Action C.5

Introduction of a first Apennine chamois nucleus into the Sirente Velino Regional Park

Start up of establishing the new colony in the Sirente-Velino. The nucleus will consist of at least 8 chamois originating, in part, from wildlife parks and, in part, from specimens captured in the wild from the Majella and Gran Sasso-Monti della Laga National Parks. Instead, the current situation in the Abruzzo, Latium and Molise National Park does not foresee it being possible to capture chamois in this area, as had been the situation in the past. The released chamois will be fitted with auricular tags and radio-collars (some satellite linked) and will be, as required by IUCN protocols, subject to a specific monitoring program.
